Stewardship and Outreach Program

The Stewardship and Outreach program connects the public to the watershed. We promote an appreciation for the watershed by involving its residents in diverse activities. We organize projects such as shoreline surveys, and activities such as river and lake cleanups, our annual Mystic Herring Run Festival, guided walks, and forums and lectures. In addition, we publish a quarterly newsletter to report on our activities and build support for the watershed.

Our goals:

Through education and outreach, we seek to raise awareness of the Mystic River and its tributaries, better understand its problems and opportunities, and provide the tools that residents can use to help to restore and protect it. We depend on the enthusiasm, energy and commitment of volunteers for much of our activities. Many of our projects involve partnerships with local groups, Tufts University, and local schools.
