Volunteers are the lifeblood
of the Mystic River Watershed Association. For the first 27 years
of its existence, all programs were volunteer-run! Today, we have
a staff of 3, but we still cannot accomplish what needs to be
done without the dedication and commitment of many volunteers.
We need people to help out with the
following kinds of projects:
| Organizational
Support |
Field
Work |
| Publicize Events |
River and Lake
cleanups |
| Data entry/other
office support. |
Water
quality monitoring 2008 field and classroom training for new Water Quality Monitors will take place April 12, from 1-4:30. Please contact marybeth@mysticriver.org if you are interested in attending. |
| Review occasional
technical documents. (e.g. Environmental Impact Reports) |
Shoreline Surveys.
(Training provided). |
| Help with a mailing |
Help organize/lead
a nature walk or canoe trip. |
| Art
and Education |
Advocacy/Awareness |
| Create educational
brochures. |
Contact elected
officials or local watershed groups. |
| Create a display
for festivals. |
Serve
on a Committee |
| Photograph watershed
sites for documentation. |
Assist at the Annual
Mystic Herring Run Festival (May), other festival,
or Town Day. |
